On Wednesday, Singapore had its third Universal Periodic Review (UPR). Every 5 years, the UN Human Rights Council reviews each member state’s human rights record, and shares recommendations for improvements.

Singapore strives to foster an inclusive, cohesive, and resilient society. Since our last UPR in 2016, we’ve implemented many new policies towards realising this vision. Our delegation also shared our human-centric response to COVID-19, and measures to support those affected by the pandemic. Read more about this in the UPR e-brochure here: https://go.gov.sg/sgupr-e-brochure.

The UPR is a good opportunity to take stock of our progress promoting and protecting human rights in multicultural Singapore. We will keep on doing this, as we build a home for future generations. – LHL

On this page I talk about the things I’m doing and thinking about, but I would also like to hear from you, about what we can do together for Singapore.
